DigiGamers
DigiPlus’ First-Ever Mobile Legends Tournament
At DigiPlus Interactive Corp., one of the liveliest and fastest-growing employee clubs is DigiGamers, a community of over 270 gaming enthusiasts. From casual matches to online challenges, the group has always found ways to connect, unwind, and share their passion for esports.
But last August 2025, DigiGamers leveled up. For the first time in company history, we launched an official Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) tournament — a game overwhelmingly chosen by our members (90% in our survey said it was their favorite). The result? A high-energy competition that brought together 16 teams, more than 80 players, and countless colleagues who tuned in to support.

Building the Tournament from the Ground Up
When I was invited by Emmanuel and John K., our expat colleagues, to lead the project, I drew on my past experience organizing MLBB tournaments at SM Supermalls and even StarCraft competitions during the pandemic. This foundation helped me write the official rulebook, mechanics, tournament brackets, and prize structure — all tailored to fit the budget while still keeping the excitement high.
Prizes included:
-
Champion: ₱30,000 cash
-
1st Runner-Up: ₱20,000
-
2nd Runner-Up: ₱10,000
-
All other teams: 500 MLBB diamonds per player
Each team was made up of 5 to 6 members (with one reserve) and led by a team captain to coordinate with opponents and tournament admins.

Collaboration at Its Core
While the tournament was about gaming, it also became a story of collaboration and teamwork behind the scenes.
-
I worked with Gio and Reland from the Creatives team to design the announcements.
-
Angelo and Dimple handled logistics — from medals and manager’s checks to food and supplies.
-
Jericho from Finance ensured everything stayed on budget, handled liquidation, and kept reporting transparently.
It was also my first time hosting a company-wide event, even without knowing everyone personally. By the end, I had built new friendships and stronger bonds with colleagues across departments.
More Than Just a Tournament
The DigiGamers MLBB Tournament wasn’t just about crowning champions (though congratulations again to our top three teams 🏆). It was about creating a culture of fun, camaraderie, and shared passion at DigiPlus. For me, it was both a professional milestone and a personal joy — blending my love for esports with leadership, event management, and collaboration.
This is just the beginning. With DigiGamers’ growing community, I’m excited for more events that bring people together, celebrate talent, and strengthen our culture through play.
