How It Started
My acquaintance with the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) dates back to 2012, during my second year as a Multimedia Artist at Smart Communications Inc. I often heard my superiors, including one of my mentors, mention their experiences at AIM, whether for training or obtaining diplomas. Intrigued, I delved deeper into AIM’s reputation and was captivated by its excellence in education. From that moment, I made a silent promise to myself: one day, I’ll be a part of AIM.
In February 2024, an email invitation from Efren Tadeja, a staff member at AIM, reignited my long-held aspiration. Prompted by years of anticipation, I promptly responded to Efren’s inquiry. The following day, I stepped foot onto AIM’s campus for the very first time, attending an Innovation Talk featuring Prof. Christopher Monterola, PhD, the esteemed School Head of Aboitiz School of Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship, followed by Lucille Jade Galvan, Director of the Career Services Office. Prof. Monterola’s presentation on AI left me eager to explore AIM’s resources, while Ms. Galvan’s insights into alumni success stories fueled my determination to pursue a graduate degree, specifically the Master of Innovation and Business program.

My journey in the field of multimedia arts has been both rewarding and challenging. After graduating from university, I joined Smart Communications Inc. as a Multimedia Artist. This role allowed me to hone my skills and gain valuable experience, but I always felt a pull towards something more—an urge to innovate and make a broader impact in the business world.
The Decision to Apply
The Big Decision
Hearing about AIM’s distinguished programs and the success stories of its alumni over the years only strengthened my resolve. The Master of Innovation and Business program, in particular, resonated with my aspirations. It promised to blend my creative background with the strategic acumen needed to excel in today’s dynamic business landscape. This program seemed like the perfect opportunity to elevate my career and bring fresh, innovative ideas to my own business ventures.

The Application Journey
Once I decided to apply, I dedicated myself to the process. I started by thoroughly researching the program, understanding the prerequisites, and gathering all necessary documents. Recommendations from mentors and colleagues who believed in my potential played a crucial role. Preparing for the admission tests and interviews required focused effort. I had to record a one-minute video introduction of myself and then participate in an online interview with Prof. Rico Camus. I approached each step with determination and a clear goal in mind.
Challenges and Perseverance
Overcoming Hurdles
The application process wasn’t without its hurdles. Balancing a demanding job, personal commitments, and the application requirements was challenging. One of the most significant obstacles was the financial aspect. The tuition fees for the Master of Innovation and Business program were substantial, and the cost initially seemed daunting.
However, I was fortunate to receive support from a benefactor who believed in my potential and helped me kickstart my journey by covering almost half of the tuition fees. Additionally, AIM offers a student grant and a 0% interest loan from Aboitiz, which provided much-needed financial relief. This support was a game-changer, allowing me to focus on my goals without the overwhelming burden of financial stress. With these resources and my determination, I was able to persevere through the challenges and remain committed to my dream.
The Moment of Acceptance

The day I received the acceptance email from AIM was unforgettable. Reading that email, I felt a mix of elation, relief, and gratitude. It was a testament to years of hard work, perseverance, and an unyielding belief in my dreams. My acceptance into the Master of Innovation and Business program was not just a personal achievement but also a stepping stone towards future success.
